Black Friday sales and promotions helped prompt consumers to shake off the tryptophan lethargy and hit the mall.
While most stores opened at dawn, stores at the Glendale Galleria in Glendale, Calif., opened at 2 a.m. And some of the stores at The Citadel Outlets mall in Commerce, Calif., opened at midnight.
And the shoppers were there. Big-ticket electronics seem to be tops on most consumer’s wish lists.
Retail consultant Britt Beamer told NPR that apparel sales could pick up later in the season, as retailers begin discounting fashion in the final days before Christmas.
Shopping seemed to continue throughout the day. I spotted lots of shopping bags--from Victoria's Secret, Forever 21 and HM--among the crowds at Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica, Calif.
